Penny

The Fabulous Penny was born to a precious pitty mom who spent her entire life tied to a tree. She had many pups during her sad life and most got killed running about freely. Many attempts were made to change this situation without results.

A neighbor adopted Penny and kept her as her outdoor only dog. And Penny did her job well. She guarded her property from the airplanes, the hot air balloons, the cars, the cats, and the passerbys. She barked and barked and barked. After receiving complaints, the neighbor attached a bark collar that burned permanent scars into Penny’s neck. Penny knew her “job” was to protect her property and she made sure everyone knew she was doing just that, the only way she knew.

Finally, when Penny was 3 1/2, she came to us and learned tolerance, obedience, love and raw food. She rarely barked and after six months, met her possible adoptive mom, Susan, who wanted her immediately. Penny had been playing in mud puddles most of the day and really needed a bath. Dirt? What dirt? An example of instant heart bonding, we in rescue pray for.

Susan provided Penny with a lifetime of total acceptance, love and care. Penny thrived with her raw diet and loved her huge fluffy bed by the fireplace (well, Penny had a big fluffy bed in every room in their home) and her runs throughout their vast property. Penny had finally found her forever home where she thrived in joy until she died peacefully in 2011.
